The Bengaluru police have arrested one more youth with alleged links to the Lashkar-e-Tayiba and Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami as it intensified investigation into terror modules busted in Karnataka, taking the number of those detained in this connection to 13.
The Bangalore police on Thursday claimed that they have busted a major module of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba and the Harkat-ul-Jihadi- Islami. Eleven suspects, five from Bangalore and six from Hubli, have been detained and one of them is a journalist with a leading daily in Karnataka, said the police.Director General of Police Lalrokhuma Pachau told the media that the suspects had planned a state-wide operation in which they were going to target Members of Parliament.
The probe by the Bengaluru police in coordination with the special cell of the Delhi police has revealed that the team of 10 persons from the Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami and the Lashkar-e-Tayiba had split into two groups to carry out a series of operations in Karnataka.
They are the Lashkar-e-Tayiba, Jamaat-e-Islam and the Hizbul Tahri al Islami.
